Recommendations
Final
Conference Recommendations:
-
To highlight the consequences of the accession of Middle Eastern
countries to the WTO specially in relation to the industrial, trade
and services sectors in these countries.
-
To stand upon the problems which impede the progress of the Jordanian
industries and services in particular and the Arabic ones in general,
which stem from the great competition that faces these sectors by
other foreign competing sectors.
-
To explain the means of protecting domestic markets using the legal
provisions of the WTO without violating Jordan's obligations in
the Organization.
-
To explain the means of helping Jordanian industries and services
to exploit trade liberalization and penetrate new markets for the
Jordanian products.
-
The conference shed lights upon the basics that the Jordanian negotiator
in particular and the Arab one in general should adopt in the new
round of negotiations, specially concerning the new negotiations
for drafting an international agreement for investment. The importance
of this subject lies in that investment is somehow more complex
than trade and thus the sensitivity of countries on the international
level towards investment issues is more evident in comparison to
trade issues.
-
To work on creating legal awareness in WTO topics and jurisprudence
as a starting point to create a forum of Arab lawyers specializing
in different topics of globalisation. It was decided that this Conference
will be a starting point for a series of legal conferences and symposiums
on the same high profile.
-
The Conference promoted the Jordanian commercial and investment
abilities by addressing the various positive legislative aspects
in the legal structure of investment in Jordan. The Conference demonstrated
that Jordan is legally prepared to attract foreign investment.
-
The conference presented a recommendation to the WTLA Council to
study the possibility of establishing a regional committee for the
WTLA in Amman.
