Under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II and in cooperation with Khalaf Masa'deh & Partners, the WTLA held its first Regional Middle Eastern Conference under the theme "Globalization: the WTO and Business Opportunities in the Middle East".

Many keynote speakers from around the globe were invited to address the Conference. A large number of participants attended the Conference, from Europe and the Middle East. In particular, the Jordanian attendance was overwhelming!

The program of the Conference covered a broad range of WTO-related issues such as services, investment, accession, intellectual property, dispute settlement, the Doha Round and the relation between free trade agreements and the WTO.

Managing Partner at Khalaf Masa'deh & Partners, Dr. Ahmad Masa'deh was chosen to become Member of the Council of the World Trade Law Association, a reputable organization based in London, UK and specializing in World Trade Law matters particularly issues related to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Members of the Association include well-renowned multinational corporations, distinguished lawyers and academics, policy makers, States representatives and officials at international organizations such as the European Union and the WTO.

The Council running the Association is composed of WTO experts and is chaired by the Honorable Lord Slynn of Hadely of the UK House of Lords.
